History In Modular Industry

WillScot Modular started in 1944 as Williams Mobile Offices, which provided 8’ trailers/offices that could be towed behind cars. In 1945, recreational vehicles and specialty units were introduced under the Scotsman Production Company with a focus on the film industry.

In 1955, Williams Mobile Offices officially incorporated, and by 1965, the company revealed their first double wide mobile office. Their first modular building was revealed two years later. In 1990 Scotsman and Williams Mobile Offices merged into WillScot Modular.

Since the merger, the company has:

• Opened offices in Canada
• Expanded into Mexico and Europe
• Went public before going private two years later when WillScot and Algeco merged
• Acquired Hawaii Modular Space, Wiron, Acton Mobile, Tyson Onsite and ModSpace
